In the heart of the Dolomites stands one of the most singular architectural projects of twentieth-century Italy: the former Villaggio Eni in Borca di Cadore.
Commissioned by Enrico Mattei in the late Fifties as a place devoted to the wellbeing and leisure of Eni employees, the village was designed by the architect Edoardo Gellner with the contribution of Carlo Scarpa. Together they created a work unique of its kind, able to converse with the landscape without imposing itself upon it.
Here architecture follows the profile of the mountain, weaves itself into the forest, and finds its expressive strength in the simplicity of its materials. Every building, every path, every detail tells of a modernist and profoundly human vision of dwelling.
An idea of conservation
It is precisely this idea of conservation that led us to choose Villaggio Eni as the location for the preview of our new collection.
The restoration
Today this heritage lives on thanks to a major restoration and enhancement project that preserves its original identity, keeping intact the bond between architecture, nature and community.
Hotel Boite
Hotel Boite, set in the middle of the village, is one of the most significant testaments to this continuity. Over the years the building has undergone work that has updated its function and comfort without altering the original design in any way.
The research
Like the architecture of Gellner and Scarpa, our own research is born of the desire to create something that crosses time without chasing trends. Essential forms, natural materials, a balance of elegance and function — values that here find a real counterpart.
